Maxine is an Associate in the Dispute Resolution team at Trethowans. Her primary specialisms are in commercial contract disputes, construction disputes, and professional negligence claims. She has a depth of experience in breach of contract claims, including in relation to business telecommunications contracts, and disputes arising from construction projects.

Maxine works with a broad range of clients including developers, architects, owner-managed businesses, pension trusts, national and international companies, and private individuals. She takes pride in building a strong rapport and trust with clients, allowing her to fully understand their commercial objectives and put in place an effective strategy to push forward resolution of the dispute.

In addition, Maxine regularly provides in-house legal training to clients which is tailored to their areas of practice. She is happy to be contacted in relation to providing bespoke training.

  • High Court proceedings against prominent new home warranty and insurance provider in relation to defective construction materials.
  • Successful adjudications under the Scheme for Construction Contracts, including substantial input on a complex referral which resulted in an award in excess of £300,000.
  • Acting for various construction contractors in defending claims brought against them in relation to alleged faults with works.
  • Professional negligence claim brought against client’s former matrimonial lawyer to recover £90,000 lost following negligent advice on pension entitlement.
  • High Court claim against national infrastructure company for damages to client’s specialist equipment and loss of business opportunity following works to premises.
  • Acting for national builders merchant on high value overage dispute where potential uplift exceeded £800,000
  • Working alongside lead Partner on defence of £20m claim against former director in relation to management of trust fund
