Maria is an Associate Solicitor in the Commercial Litigation team at Trethowans, specialising in Insolvency Litigation. She started her career in a litigation team at a local regional firm in 2007, dealing with claims for debt recovery and insolvency matters. Maria continued her career there for 10 years, completing her legal qualifications whilst working full time, before moving to another local regional firm, working in their Dispute Resolution team. Maria qualified as a Solicitor in 2017.
Notable work highlights
- Assisting with a high value breach of contract and breach of duty dispute for an ex-director of a national company where allegations of theft of highly confidential information about customers had been taken upon the client resigning from the firm, as well as misuse and obtaining company funds by abusing their position as a director. A freezing injunction was obtained by the Claimant and we were successful in agreeing undertakings for the removal of the freezing order by consent.
- Acting for a large company dealing with several matters where allegations of wide scale commercial fraud had been raised, assisting a partner with pursuing claims for monies incurred pursuant to those contracts to recover monies owed by customers.
